examples: WATM v1 examples should be updated to reflect the newly introduced working mode(s)

As the title suggests, the current examples in v1 are only compatible with updated v1 spec, but do not fully reflect the supported features in v1.

We are hoping to see in v0.7.x better coverage of the new features in example code.
