What Happened?
When I right-click on a very large JPG file, the file apps suddenly use a lot of memory. Right-clicking on these files is also very slow. In some cases, this can trigger kswapd to invoke oom-killer, especially on a system with limited memory, or worse, thrashing and livelock.
Steps to Reproduce
- Download file here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Menger_4D_OpenCL_23448154_32K.jpg
- Open download folder
- Find the file and right click it
- Check Monitor or
htop
Expected Behavior
Right-clicking on a big file is faster and doesn't cause a sudden surge in memory usage.
